I took this photo of Lauren for my contents page but her innocent face and long blonde hair doesn't really match the genre of my magazine. To make her more audience friendly I, firstly, turned the contrast on the photo up and cropped the image. I then used the paintbrush tool and changed the effect to 'soft light' to change her hair colour a light pink/red colour and done the same to her lips in a dark red. I think she looks a lot more appealing to my audience than she does in the first photo and I will add the newly edited picture to my contents page.

Logo.
To chose the title font I asked the whole of my class their opinion on which font I should pick after I'd narrowed it down to two. They thought both would be appropriate but majority suggested the second choice and I agreed.
Double Page Spread.
To reserch DPS's I looked at Kerrang and Rocksound magazines as mine is of a similar genre. This is an article from Rocksound. I like that the name of the band is 'After The Gold Rush' so they've made parts of the article gold. Their Double Page Spread seems to be more pictures than writing and I found this to be similar with a lot of magazines. Although, I think the reason for this is because a main feature usually has more than just two pages so they spread it out. Because mine is only two pages I'll try to put more writing as I think the interview is important. I like that they have one big photo of the band and will probably do something similar. They have pulled out quotes from the interview and I think that's very effective. Overall I think it's a good double page spread but there could be more photos and writing.
Kerrang Contents Page.
I have looked at Kerrang contents page as the magazine I will create will be similar to one like this magazine. It's well structured in four columns. Although the page looks quite busy it isn't overpowering, instead it's exciting and interesting. You can tell it is a rock magazine by the people in the pictures and the bold text. I like the way they have a letter from the editor and will probably do something similar with my magazine. They've used their front logo again inside to create a house style and I imagine that the front cover is also simialr colours and texts. Overall, I think this is a successful contents page with lots for their audience to take it and informed enough to entice a reader to buy it.

Images.
Last week I went out to take photos with a few of my friends for my front cover and double page spread. The made up band I've created are a three piece band called Run For Cover. I'm going to do a Q&A double page spread with the band about their upcoming album 'Nostalgia.' I wanted to take some photos on a field and fortunately the day we chose was fairly good weather. I told the boys to bring clothes that fit my genre of magazine but Robert forgot, thankfully, me and Sam had brought lots of spare clothes so we chose some jeans and a t-shirt for Robert to wear.
This is the photo I'm going to use for my front cover:
Of course, this wasn't the only photo I had to take. Unfortunately, I don't know any male models and to get these three into any sort of pose was difficult! Here's some other photos I took but won't be using:
Here Robert is looking the wrong way.
In this photo Sam is talking and Jake has his eyes closed.
In this one Same is raising his arm to sort his hair and Jake has his eyes closed again!
Although the boys were in the right pose, for reason or another the photo didn't come out right. There were a lot of photos that were wrong for similar reasons as the ones above.
